Many of us have heard the old saying, “I’ll believe it when I see it”. Not many know that things are really the other way around: you’ll see it when you believe it. This happens because thoughts are things. That bears repeating in caps: THOUGHTS ARE THINGS. What you believe you manifest; what you cannot believe will not come into your life. So, you will see what you believe. This was brought home to me not long ago after a purchase I made had gone awry.

Having moved recently to a much smaller dwelling, I found there was not enough room for my books. The thought occurred to me that I could buy an ornamental bookcase or cabinet to store my books that could be decorative as well as functional. Amazingly, I found a beautiful antique cabinet that would fit the bill. After careful measuring, looking, thinking, planning, and visualizing, I took the plunge and bought it. It was delivered to my house along with the key, and I turned the key to open the door. The key did not work. It would not unlock the cabinet. There I was, with a beautiful antique wooden cabinet that had just become useless. I cannot even begin to describe my emotions.

Finally taking control, I called the antique store, whose personnel had not been very friendly or helpful up until now. Nevertheless, one of the co-owners agreed to come to my house to unlock the door. She came quickly, and I stayed out of her way, as she tried repeatedly without success to unlock the door. Still staying out of her way, I began washing the dishes, taking my attention away from that blasted locked door. As my mind wandered, I recalled in times past how I had pictured something occurring and then having that thing actually happen in real life very soon after I began picturing it. So, I started picturing the door being open and how happy both of us would be as we viewed the open door. Within five minutes, she had the door open, when for the past 1/2 hour she had had no success whatsoever. We jumped around, shouted, whooped, and congratulated each other. I thanked her profusely for her help and vowed never to lock that door again.

Since THOUGHTS ARE THINGS, why wouldn’t everyone begin picturing abundance and happiness? Why not indeed? Keep your sunny side up, see, feel, and breathe your aspirations, then expect them to happen. You won’t even be able to recognize your life.

In looking over the posts channeled by your Angels over the past year, I am struck by how many of these posts concern the subject of attitude and belief. The overall message is: that which you believe manifests in your life. To examine your belief system, look about you at your environment, for it is there that you see the fruits of your creation. To change your fruits, change your beliefs (see Archives).

In regard to belief, many of my loyal readers know that I am still struggling with changing my attitudes and beliefs in certain areas, with spotty success. Just last Monday, on 1/11/11, my own Angels sent me a very positive message, which I wish to share with you. As always with my Angels, their message has a large element of teaching and learning connected with it, making it of general interest.

On that day, 1/11/11, I had driven to a particular department store to return some fleece sheets given me as a Christmas present by my sister, Sue. These sheets had been labeled “Full”, but when I put them on the bed, found them to be “Queen”. Too big for the bed and for my pillows, they were nevertheless so warm and cozy that I was not readily willing to part with them. After some discussion with Sue, she persuaded me to return them, saying that she would send me the correct size. So, on that Monday, I rode to the store with the intention of returning those comfy fleece sheets.

The store offered me the choice of an exchange or store credit. Surprised that they had fleece sheets (I had looked for them the year before and could not find them), on a whim I asked where they were located. “On a kiosk near the Men’s Department”, said the clerk. Taking my store credit with me, I strolled through the store on my way to an exit. Although I had no plans to pick up the “Full” sheets, curiosity got the best of me and I began looking for the Men’s Dept. and the kiosk on which the alleged sheets allegedly were displayed. Found the Men’s Dept. Found the kiosk. Found the fleece sheets. Found the “Full” sized sheets. Found the packaging to be smaller than the “Queen” size and considered picking up a set, but didn’t because my sister had said that she would send me replacements.

Turning my back on the sheets, I began walking toward the exit, which was in a direct line with the sheet kiosk. In no special hurry, I meandered past a rack full of hanging stuff, some long, some short, some fluffy, some smooth—all so nondescript that nothing caught my attention except the sheer quantity of it. For some unknown reason, I stopped at the sight of all this stuff, none of which had the slightest interest for me, yet which held me fast. Almost in a trance, I walked around the rack to the other side. I could not have told you why I did so, since that, too was filled with quantities of hanging stuff. In this trance, I walked slowly to nearly the midpoint of the display, my gaze at about 3-4 feet above the floor. At this position, my gaze found a huge, wooden plaque, approximately 18 inches wide by at least 6 inches tall, made of rough, brown wood. Slowly my eyes moved upward to encounter the phrase, “You Can Achieve It”. Jolted, I continued my gaze upward and found the phrase, “If You Believe It”.

I stared, dumbfounded. The phrase, “You Can Achieve It” was in direct answer to my unspoken question of whether I could achieve my stated goal, which I had just the day before given up. I had actually mentally said good-bye to the man who seemed my ideal mate, thinking that he would never be attracted to or interested in me. Now here was my Angels’ message straight from Heaven, written in English, in huge white letters on a huge, brown, ugly, wooden plaque, so big that I couldn’t possibly miss it.

I stared at this wooden plaque, taking the message in, first reading it top to bottom and then bottom to top. Slowly, slowly, as my reasoning faculties returned, I became aware that my Angels were sending me the most powerful message to date that they had ever sent. They were going to a lot of trouble to tell me that yes, indeed, I am able to achieve my desire for my ideal mate and yes, they have every intention of sending me my heart’s desire. There is a hold-up, however, and that hold-up is me. Specifically, the hold-up is my inability to believe that he would be interested in coming into my life. They were telling me that I am able to achieve my desire: the first words I encountered were “You Can Achieve It”—in direct answer to my continuing question of whether my desire was even possible. They were also telling me that in order to achieve my desire, I must do my part, which is to believe that this can come into my life.

My Angels were deadly serious. They are willing to send him to me; they are waiting to send him to me; they are wanting to send him to me, but they cannot, because I have been unable to muster sufficient belief that this dream can actually happen to me. [Remember that sufficient belief is that amount of belief which is the size of a grain of mustard (see June 6, 2010 Belief: the missing link)]. All of this realization washed over me in a profound spirit of conviction. I realized that my Angels were my friends and truly desire to aid me, but they can only go so far. It now becomes my responsibility to fulfill my part of the bargain, which is to believe with my whole heart, body, and soul. Interestingly, I had no goosebumps, no shivers, no thrills, just a deep, solid knowing the content and extent of their message. Playtime’s over, boys and girls, time to get serious.

In some shock that my dream will actually materialize, I spent the next day mulling over the Angel message and digging out from the two feet of snow that Mother Nature had so generously dumped on us. On 1/13/11, on my way to work, I examined closely the idea of belief and how I had been skirting this issue, giving lip-service to it, but not really believing that I could have my ideal mate. I examined closely my attitudes and beliefs. What were my sticking points? What did I not believe? What could I believe? In what form could I believe it? What would it take for me to believe it? How could I actually convince myself to believe it?

With Angelic guidance, I was able to sort through my hopes, fears, and terrors, trying to find a way to believe that someone could find me attractive. I decided that I could believe that I can be cute. Not glamorous, but cute. Perky and cute. I can believe that I am able to be charming. I can believe that I have a delightful and unpredictable sense of humor. I can believe that this combination of cuteness and charm and humor can be used by the Holy Spirit to provide an attractive aura around me, which my future ideal mate will find irresistible. And in thinking along these line, I realized that I have a high IQte. This last had me laughing out loud, which brought me to the next realization: someone with a high IQte is approachable, which is in itself attractive.

After this intense soul-searching and honest appraisal of my strengths, I am able to believe wholeheartedly that they, along with the magic of the Holy Spirit, will bring my ideal mate into my life. This was hard work, having to face my terrors, but how could I turn my back on my willing Angels? How could I turn away their generous gift of an ideal mate, which they are ready to hand to me if I will only do my part? Am I so lazy that I will use the excuse of “it’s too hard”, or “it’s too scary”, or “I’m not worth it”, or other such nonsense? Hardly. I’ll rise to the occasion if it’s the last thing I do, especially for the promise of my ideal mate.

I sincerely hope that you can find strength, hope, and comfort in this little example of Angelic aid and guidance. Perhaps you, too, have some secret desire that you wish fulfilled but believe that you cannot achieve because of specious reasons (and they are all specious). Decide on your dream. Search out those blocks to your belief. Find ways to believe, ways that ring true for you that will allow this dream into your life. Your Angels are more than willing to meet you halfway.

Your Angels are vitally interested that you understand the extreme importance of the role of belief in your life. They have addressed this idea before in several posts:

June 5, 2010: “seek with expectation”
June 6, 2010: “belief: the missing link”
June 7, 2010: “expand your belief”
July 31, 2010: “thoughts are things”

Yet, today, they again made it clear to me just how important that little idea of belief is, for that which you believe will become present for you in your physical world. That which you do not believe will not manifest itself in your immediate physical world, even though it is present in the larger physical world. As is their habit, your Angels have a story to illustrate their advice.

An acquaintance of mine, Zelda, has an issue with abundance. She is unable to manifest it. In particular, she is unable to manifest green energy, which we know by its other name, money. In addition, she is unable, at present, to see how her beliefs contribute to this seeming inability to manifest abundance. Several years ago, she called to lament her lack of funds. Her Angels presented her with several suggestions, all of which would result in an increase in her funds. One of these suggestions involved claiming a balance of nearly $3,000 held by a local bank, in her name, in a “lost accounts” fund. She seemed excited by this prospect. I heard little of any progress in this direction but was not surprised, since she has honed procrastination to a fine art.

In a recent conversation with Zelda, she again lamented her low bank account. Inquiring about the “lost funds” held by the bank, she became very defensive and told me that she could not get the funds. The defensive/aggressive tone of her voice tipped me off to a deeper issue. With gentle probing by her Angels, we uncovered her major obstacle. In her own words, “I don’t believe that I can get that money. It doesn’t seem real to me.”

Aha! Now we are at the crux of the matter: she doesn’t believe; and acquisition does not seem real to her. In other words, while intellectually she can hear the words that $3,000 is waiting for her at a bank, emotionally that money might as well be on the Moon or in a movie or in the next galaxy over. She is not able to feel that this money belongs to her and that it will be sitting in her very own savings account in her lifetime. That explains why she has not pursued it, why she was put off so easily by any attempts to pursue it, why she is not pursuing it at the present time, and why she has no plans to pursue it. To her belief system, that money does not exist, so why bother to pursue it? Thus, this money is present in the physical realm, but not present in her immediate physical world.

My fervent hope is that all of you, dear readers, are shaking your heads in wonder and nodding them at the same time. Shaking your heads at the futility of her belief system, yet nodding knowingly because you know that changing her belief will result in manifestation of this $3,000 in her bank account. Many people say, “I’ll believe it when I see it”. Dr. Dyer knows that You’ll See It When You Believe It (see Reading). So how can Zelda help herself? She can become aware of her belief system (see November 15, 2010, It’s all about Awareness). Once she has become aware of this belief, she can choose to think differently. Once she thinks differently, she can choose to believe that this money is real, that it is hers, and then take steps to claim it, thus bringing it into her immediate physical reality.

Your Angels know that belief systems are often ingrained, ruts worn deep by many years and decades of consistent wrong thinking. Becoming aware of those belief systems is a huge accomplishment in itself. Once an ingrained belief is identified, you might have to just sit with it for a while—sometimes years—looking at it, understanding it, making peace with it, before you can move on to replacing it. With Zelda, to her eternal credit, she was able today to hear herself admit that she does not believe the money to be real. Once she realizes this important belief, she can begin to process it and choose to believe differently. She may continue to choose to believe the money is not real, but somehow, once a belief is exposed, it doesn’t have the same power over us that it had before we were aware of it.

Your Angels hope that you will take this little story to heart, make it your own, and start to become aware of your own belief systems which get in your way. What belief is holding you back? Do you believe yourself to be unlovable? Do you believe that you must suffer? Do you believe that you must be poor? Do you believe that life is hopeless, so why try? Ferret out those harmful beliefs. Know that your life is only as rich as your belief system, then trust that your Angels will show you the way to an abundance of riches, however you define them.

An on-going theme of many of these posts has been that of dreaming and of dreaming big, i.e., dreaming out of your comfort zone (see Archives). I have written that your Angels have designated me as Supreme Guinea Pig in the dreaming big department as the pioneer who paves the way. Their idea is that if I, an ordinary mortal, am able to achieve the objects of my definite purposes in life (see Reading, Think and Grow Rich), then you, too, are able to achieve the same results, as you, too, tap into your divine nature.

In this journey, which began in the week of April 27, 2010, I have encountered many milestones and obstacles. An initial euphoria gave way to paralyzing fear, which lead to nail-biting doubt. Between my readers’ kind encouragement, which I acknowledge with sincere, heartfelt thanks, and my dogged persistence in following the guidelines laid down by Napoleon Hill (see reading, Think and Grow Rich), I have transcended euphoria, fear, and doubt and have entered a solid, steady driving pace, much like the long-distance runner who is in the race for the long haul.

In the midst of this smug self-congratulation, your Angels would like to point out that two of their insight flashes* contributed directly to my new-found steadfastness and aided greatly my subsequent feeling of calm acceptance.

One of these flashes contained the following message of supreme import: it does not matter what we dream because everything on this dimension is a dream (see also Reading, A Course in Miracles). For those of you who have read and studied A Course in Miracles, this statement comes as no surprise. For everyone else, this statement can seem revolutionary. Yet, even in New Age circles, it is understood that we—humans collectively—created the Universe in a dream as a joke, then forgot the joke. As an analogy, think back to some of your sleeping dreams which you create, at how vivid they can be and imbued with such detail. The sky is not just blue, but perhaps azure blue or cerulean blue, or even a hazy, pale blue; dotted with not just clouds, but with cumulous clouds or cirrus clouds. The sun feels hot. The water feels cool and wet. Riding on a rollercoaster gives the sensation of going up the track and the weightless feeling as it plummets can be enough to awaken you. As your sleeping dreams are complete to every last minuscule detail, so are your waking dreams: our own private universe, the one through which we move while we are awake.

As we feel no guilt, remorse, regret, or any other negative emotion while experiencing our sleeping dreams, we need have no qualms, then, either, about our waking dreams. Understanding that everything around us is a dream—which we have created—we can then experiment with other kinds of dreams. Just as a body builder often flexes muscles as a test of prowess and to push toward the next level, so extending the size and shape of our dreaming flexes our spiritual muscles and makes us stronger spiritually as, through dreaming, we come to recognize our divine nature.

The second insight flash has this message at its heart: everything in our immediate universe is the result of a past or current waking dream. Look around you to see what you have manifested for yourself: your abode, the articles in your abode—furniture, rugs, knick-knacks or lack of them, lamps, pictures, and so on—your occupation, your friends. Even more personally, your personality, your physical appearance, clothing, jewelry, hair-style, shoes, make-up or lack of it. As an exercise in awareness, take a look at all of the elements in your universe as being the result of someone’s waking dreams. What does this say about that person? If you were to take charge of the dreaming, what would you change? What would you keep?

Let your dreaming, therefore, be guiltless. As co-creator of the Universe with God, your divine nature will shape the future from a position of love to benefit you and all who enter your world. Play, my children, and so learn to embrace your divine nature.

*An “insight flash”, also called a “thought ball” by Robert Monroe (see Reading, Journeys out of the Body; Far Journeys) is a unique Angelic transmission of information containing sight, sound, smell, taste, feeling, and touch. I will describe this in more detail in a later post.

While on my mini-vacation, visiting old friends, the talk turned to subjects beyond ESP, a common occurrence when I am present. Working with a pendulum for my friend, Bela, he received messages from his deceased wife, as well as from his Hungarian Angel, Erzsebet, who has been advising him about his health. Exhausting that interesting topic for the moment, Bela told an unusual story of table-tilting that he had witnessed as an 11-year-old Hungarian refugee in Germany, at one of the many camps set up for those fleeing the horrors of WWII.

After WWII, the Hungarian army was pushed by the invading Russians into Bavaria, in southern Germany. Their camp was in a Gasthaus of a local tavern. Having nothing to do, the soldiers frequented the beer hall, passing time with each other and with the waitresses. Some of the soldiers said that one of their buddies used to go to the village and, for entertainment, frighten the waitresses by moving tables, despite these tables being held down by many strong hands. This young man, a 28-year-old soldier, seemed to have the ability to make odd pieces of furniture do odd things.

The Hungarian refugees, also having nothing to do, asked the soldiers to bring their buddy to demonstrate his ability with tables. The talented soldier did appear at the Gasthaus, carrying a small stick. He picked out a typical bar table, a long unwieldy, pine trestle table that normally could seat 10 beer-quaffing customers. With help, he placed the table in the middle of the room. The curious onlookers stood around the room, watching to see what would happen next. The soldier asked for 6 volunteers. Bela, his aunt, and 4 other people immediately stepped up. The soldier had them sit on chairs along one long edge of the table, which had near the bottom on each side a long board on which patrons of the bar could rest their feet while seated. Under instruction, the volunteers sat close enough to lightly rest their hands on the tabletop, fingers touching, forming an energy circuit. The soldier stood on the opposite side. Once all were in position and settled, the soldier tapped the table with his stick commanding, “You there! Get up!” After a few tries, the table obeyed, rising a foot above the floor, still held by the interlinked hands. Try as they might, no one could force the table back down. Bela even pushed against the foot rest with all his strength, to no avail. At the command, “Down!”, the table dropped to the floor.

Next, the soldier reached to get a drinking glass, laying it horizontally on the ground, under one of the legs, which was still up in the air. “Come down fast,” he commanded, “but don’t break the glass!” Immediately, the table zoomed downward full force, coming to a screeching halt at the top of the horizontal glass but not breaking it, just as instructed. No one left, all marveling at this display of other-worldly power. With the table in mid-air, the soldier then commanded it to tap out onto the floor the age of one of the young women in attendance. Dutifully, without breaking the glass, the table tapped out “26”. Expectantly all eyes turned toward the young woman. Nodding her head shyly, she agreed that she was, indeed, 26 years old. In this manner, the soldier commanded the table to go up and down, which it did, like a faithful dog obeying its master.

By this time, most of the spectators were giggling giddily, a little unsure of what was actually occurring. Some of the Germans who lived in the village nodded knowingly, though, saying that this feat was of no consequence, that every year someone used to come to the village Gasthaus and make the tables dance. Thus, Bela took these feats for granted, although was obviously so impressed by them that he remembered them vividly 66 years later.

After several other tricks with the table, the soldier was asked how he managed this amazing feat. He said that he had worked as an assistant engineer on the Hungarian railroad. In addition to assisting the engineer, his main duty was to lean out the window, making sure that the tracks ahead of the train were clear, searching steadily, in case he had to stop the train. After some time spent engrossed in this duty with intense concentration, he realized that he could use this power of concentration to do things. He realized that he could raise objects, such as tables. So, he began concentrating on this ability and to perform by making tables and other furniture do his bidding. He also said that he could hypnotize people, but no one volunteered. Apparently it was one thing for a table to do the soldier’s bidding, but no human subject was willing to be his guinea pig.

Many people could become frightened by this story, conjuring up visions of demons with wooden tables under their spell, commanded by a demonic soldier, leering horribly, who will suck out your soul! čÖä Your Angels encourage you to laugh heartily at such nonsense and examine carefully the awesome power available to each and every one of us as we tap into our true natures. This soldier did no more than become aware of one aspect of his divine self and tap into it, through intense concentration, with the consequent ability to make inanimate furniture do his bidding. In that regard, the hooting Germans were correct that this type of behavior is commonplace, although they missed the implications for themselves. i.e., that they, too, could tap into this awesome power.

We have learned, too, that in the Spirit world, there is no order of difficulty in miracles (see Reading, A Course in Miracles). Therefore, as a mountain is no heavier than a table, the soldier could literally have moved that mountain, if he so desired. This is also the principle by which it is as easy to manifest one million dollars as it is to manifest a convenient parking space (see also post, June 5, 2010, Seek with Expectation). Intrigued by these ideas, Bela and I decided to test them. You can read of our adventures in the next post, Experiments in Spirit Power.
